Tropical garden flowers & indigenous handwoven fabrics are reimagined with delicate brush strokes. Hardin & Habi is Mari Mari’s maiden collection of wardrobe basics with playful prints inspired by Philippine botanicals and weaves.
Monstera leaves are layered on Yakan-inspired geometric pattern for a breezy tropical print. Sampaguita and jute, both ubiquitous icons in Philippine culture, are painted in a refreshing and unexpected color palette. A rose garden is paired with an illustrated diamond pattern inspired by the weaves of the Laminosa tribe. Milflores is speckled with cuts of banig weave for an allover print one can easily wear from day to night. The beautiful and rare Waling-Waling of the orchid family is layered on weave illustration inspired by the Gaddang tribe of Cagayan Valley, creating a sweet yet bold print.
Each custom Mari Mari pattern is meticulously created by pattern designer Alessandra Lanot, beginning with gouache & watercolors on paper, which are later turned into repeat patterns printed on fabric. With her distinct and unique handpainted patterns, Alessa aims to provide an alternate way to connect the wearer to her nature and be proud of her own culture.
Mari Mari is a play on the names of the founding partners, Alessandra MARie, Julia MARie and MARrgaret Beatrice. All three are fans of simple shift silhouettes that can be styled depending on each oneís personality and mood. Mari Mariís fun and interesting basics easily become new wardrobe staples.
